Happiness is not that hard to achieve. Think about it - are you really unhappy? If you think you are, first think about this: * I'm not getting what I want: Sometimes we're unhappy because we don't get what we want. So what's the easy way to make ourselves happy again? Don't want it. You can live without the stereo and the great car and a new pair of shoes. Those aren't the things that matter. * Nobody loves me: Let's say you're unhappy because you don't think anyone loves you. That's a good reason - but is there really no one who loves you? Well, there's family, you have friends, and if you believe in a god, all these love you. And if you have none of those - there are strangers out there hoping for your happiness, there are strangers out there hoping for your happiness, so someone, somewhere really does love you. They just haven't told you. * I'm ugly/fat/stupid/(your choice here): First of all, you're not. There is something in everyone that makes us good looking. Just smile, and you'll see. The people who love you will tell you that. Don't believe anyone who says you're not, no matter how convincing they seem. You'll trick yourself into believing those lies. If there's something you want to change about yourself, do it. Exercise if you really believe you're not fit, study if you think you're not smart enough, but refuse to believe you're ugly. * I can't live without him/her: Most people believe they cannot have lives without another person. Of course, we'd all go crazy if we lived in a world without anyone else. And you may love some people so much they become a part of you, and you start to become dependent on them. But if they go away (whether they wanted to or not) and they aren't coming back, you should remember that you have interests and responsibilities of your own. What are your goals, your dreams, your talents? You definitely have them - now follow them. * It's too late: You may think it's too late to achieve what you want. Think again - there are people who've gotten PhD's at 60 to become professors, old-age athletes, and others who follow their dreams at an age you might consider "past their prime". If you've missed an opportunity, it's also not the end of the world. Try again. If you missed your interview, go back and ask for another. Keep asking. Try another company, too. It really never is too late. |
