Here are instructions for making a dry vase out of ordinary tin cans.
1. Find some tin cans the right diameter for the vase you want to make. If it is not tall enough, get two or three of the same size.
2. Make sure the edges are not rough at the top. If they are, you may have to file them off or cover them up later. BE CAREFUL - don't cut yourself. Wear gloves if you need to. If you are using multiple cans, you will need to use heavy-duty scissors to cut out the bottom of the top ones.
3. Remove the labels from the cans and clean them thoroughly.
4. Attach the cans with small nails and a hammer (kids, get your parents to do this for you), or you can tape them together with heavy tape like duct tape.
5. If you want, you can paint the can with acrylic colors or glue on construction paper, pretty paper (like wrapping paper) or cloth. Pull it tight around the can before you glue it thoroughly.
6. Let the can dry fully.
7. You can glue on decorations or draw on the outside if you like.
8. When the cans are thoroughly dry, fill with pebbles, moss, or flower foam.
9. Add in your dry or silk/fake flowers.
10. This makes a great display for a table or living room. You can also use it to store pencils, etc., or to keep fresh flowers if you line in carefully with heavy-duty plastic.
