Here are instructions for spicing up those mirrors and picture frames.

1. If you have toy pieces lying around, or little gadgets, or perhaps a pin collection or stamp collection, they will be very useful.
2. Get a glue gun or some heavy-duty glue. (Kids, get your parents' help for this)
3. Spread newspaper on the floor.
4. Collect what you want on your frame. They can be the toys mentioned above, sticks and twigs or straw (for a very natural look), stamps (stiffen first with starch), pieces of fabric, puzzle pieces, beads, small photos - anything you can think of that's the right size.
5. Paint the frame the color you want (or leave it as is, or you can also paint afterwards).
6. Put masking tape or tape down a sheet of paper into the middle of the frame. If possible, you can also take out the middle part of the frame.
7. Get your glue - and glue on the pieces. They can be next to one another, all around, piled on top, overlapping - any way you choose. If it is a stand-up frame, though, make sure there aren't pieces sticking out on the bottom that could make the frame unstable. Press the pieces firmly.
8. Put your work aside to dry for several hours. For things that might fall off (plastic, etc), you might want to hold them down with a heavy book on top.
9. For a smooth look, spray on a clear coat at the end. You can also spray with gold, silver, or other color paint for a really great look.
10. Put in your picture and display it where the world can see (also makes a great gift).
