To make a thin vase or pencil holder:
1. Get a paper towel or toilet paper tube. Remove all paper left on it. Cut to desired height.
2. Cut a rectangular piece of cloth or decorative paper. Glue on the outside of the tube, rolling tightly. Before or after covering, you can also create angles and decorative edges at one end.
3. Cut a piece of cardboard round so it fits in the bottom of the tube. Cover with cloth or paper and glue to the bottom of the tube.
4. Place a heavy rock in the bottom to weight your tube.
5. Display with dried or silk flowers, or use a short tube for pencils, pens, etc.
To make a bangle holder:
1. Get a paper tube, remove paper on it and cut to desired length.
2. Cover the tube with paper or cloth as in step 2 above.
3. Slide pangles and bracelets or even necklaces onto the tube.
4. Thread a ribbon through the tube and tie together. Use the ribbon to hang your jewelry.
To make a jewelry holder:
1. Get a paper tube, remove any paper on it and cut to desired length.
2. Cover the tube as desired (step 2 in making a thin vase or pencil holder)
3. Cut slits in the tube along the perimeter (not lengthwise). Cut as many as you need, but space them at least 1/2 inch apart).
4. You can also cut your slits doubly so that you have wider slits.
5. Place necklaces, bangles, bracelets, etc. in the slits. Then thread a ribbon through the tube and hang or affix the tube to a paper-towel holder.
6. To hold rings, cut small horizontal slits and push rings inside.
