Here are instructions for making velvet fruits (you will need to buy some velvet for this).

1. Get small pieces of stretch velvet the color you want. They can also be velour. For color, use yellow for banana, red for apple, etc. or use your own colors and designs. The velvet should stretch in both directions.
2. Cut out the velvet to the pattern of fruit. For banana, use two crescents. For apples, oranges and pears, one big double piece the each the shape of the fruit. For grapes, one small round piece.
3. Backstitch the pieces together by hand, inside out. Leave a small part unstitched, and turn right side out.
4. Fill each piece with fiberfill or cotton to desired softness.
5. Gather at the ends with a looped pipe cleaner placed inside from end to end, then stitch up closed. For the banana, don't gather - just stitch up. For grapes, gather the end of each grape and use wire to twist several on to a wire stem.
6. Add leaves, etc, and place your fruit bowl where all can see. Place it so that the velvet will catch the light.
