Heavenly Rain
by Lissie

The water seeps into your worn sneaker as you step into another deep puddle. Burying your hands deeper into your pockets, you sniff unconsciously. The chilly air blows past your wet neck, sending shivers up your spine. You squint with your clear eyes into the rainy mess before you. Walking carefully, the rainstorm covers you in the once calm, sunny landscape. Hearing the thunder echo around you, your eyes dart around. You don’t feel right. You walk quicker towards your home, trying to ignore your soggy socks, your frozen fingers and your all too thin jacket, barely keeping the cold away. You hear a crash resound over the thunder. Breaking into a run, your shoes splash against the slippery sidewalk, sending your feet skidding out behind you. You land with a resonant crack on the sidewalk. Dragging your scraped hands over to your face, your brush your hair, soaking wet, from you eyes. A low gasp emits from your body as you see the sour yellow eyes starting at your fallen form. Scrambling to get to your feet, you feel your self being held down. Struggling against the creatures above you, you bang your head on the sidewalk. Everything goes dark as you hear muffled sounds whisper around you. A loud bang. A low grunt. Crashing noises. Suddenly, the cold, wet feeling that overwhelmed you reverts back to something dry, something warm. Opening your eye’s groggily; you stare into the angelic face, looking at you with concern . . . and something else.
