Mazzy

Buffy looked at Spike pleadingly as she spoke "I need you to get Dawn and take her to your place."  She turned her head to face her "other" former lover, "Angel, there's no reason for you to stay here.  The vamps won't come in unless they're invited and when Willow was still doing magic, she put an enormous amount of protection spells on this place,"  The lines in Angel's forehead creased as he spoke to her, "No, I'm not leaving you here."

"Angel, listen to me." She reached up and touched his arm. Spike grimaced at the gesture. "I need you to do this for me.  I need a diversionary tactic so that Spike can get Dawn out of her safely. It's the only way."

Spike rolled his eyes, he had enough and couldn't contain his voice any longer, "I'm sorry luv, but this plan's got more holes in it than a hunk of swiss cheese.  If this place is so safe, then why not leave the little bit right where she is?"  he paced back and forth, his impatience growing, then he gestured to his grand-sire, "Why not have Broody Batman here just go make his diversion, while you and I hold down the fort. They followed him here after all, it's probably him they want." The platinum lothario pushed up the sleeves of his jacket. "What kind of nasty business did you bring from LA anyway?  Got another bunch of groupies out for vengeance?  Needing help from the Slayer to fight your own battles?"

"That's it.  I've had enough..." Angel strode toward Spike and gave him an upper cut across the jaw.  Spike quickly recovered and grinned at him.  "Must've hit it pretty close to the mark, didn't I.  What secrets are you hiding from us?"  Buffy got up and threw herself between them, "Enough! Enough of this stand-off.  This isn't the old West."  She looked at each man in turn, her eyes showing the levity of her seriousness. "Ok, here's the plan--with revisions. Angel, you go out there, lead the vamps from the house, take a few out if you can. I'm gonna stay here." She looked more intently into Angel's eyes. "And Spike is gonna stay with me."

Angel, opened his mouth to speak, but she cut him off. "This is not up for debate. It's the best solution. I need you to go. Now!" Angel hesitated for a moment, reached up to stroke her face, then reluctantly left out the front door and to his mission. When he had gone, Buffy turned toward Spike. The grin from before appeared again on his face. He spoke to her. "I always knew you had some sense in you. So now, what do we do?"
