Mazzy

She didn't remember when it happened or what cause it, but yet she was doing it all the same-- running.  Her long, brown hair was swinging to and fro like the flapping of a flag as she tried to keep up with her sister.  She knew Buffy was running toward something, but couldn't quite see much beyond shadowy figures in the distance.  "Buffy, wait up!" She tried to catch her uncontrollable breath.  As they drew closer to the shadow figures, she saw fists flying and one man on the ground cowering like a child—Angel.

Spike and Angel were surrounded by the remaining dimensional vamps.  They were the most bat-like vampires Spike had ever come across and moments before, the clawed hand of one had reached out and slashed Angel across the chest.  Blood came spouting from the wound and stained his blue shirt and then he went down.  It was up to Spike to keep up the good fight against the three demons.  "Crikey!" he exclaimed at the dilemma, but he sensed that his love was fast approaching.  He had smelled the scent of her hair and body before he had even seen her figure swoop up a broken tree branch and join in the attack.  Lil Bit was there too, hovering around the circle of the fight and searching for anything that could be used for a weapon.

Buffy stood in front of Angel's beaten and bloody body and protected it as best she could while fighting.  Spike was on the other side, his back toward her.  She hooked her arms into his so that she could kick up her feet into the vamp and push him back, but inadvertently sent the creature right toward an anxious Dawn.  By that point, Dawn had her own tree branch and launched it into the creature with ease, leaving herself choking in a cloud of its dust.  Buffy sighed in relief and pride before continuing with the fight, though Spike was managing quite well.

Anger was seeping through Spike's vein.  Anger that stemmed from the thought that Angel would become human again and be available for Buffy, while he would always remain as human as the Energizer bunny. He continued eagerly pounding away on the vamps like that damn bunny on his soddin' drum.  He was glad he had an outlet for his pain and beating these creatures took a lot of pounding.  It'd been a while since he fought a really good fight and had a really good reason to kick some but.  He beat a creature to the ground and Buffy was there in an instant to put the final stake in.  He dealt with the remaining vamp in the same way, and Buffy did the honors again.

Spike rubbed at the dust in his eyes and crouched down to regain his stamina.  Buffy turned to Angel and cradled his bruised body into hers, his head resting on her lap as she stroked at his gelled hair. "Angel, what happen?"  His eyes which had been closed--shut away from the pain,  horror and guilt from the night's events--slowly came open at the sound of her voice and he strained his head to turn up to her face "Buffy.  Is it over now?"

Dawn came forward to Spike and crouched down in front of him, offering him what comfort she could.  He had his head turned to the old lovers, expecting to hear what he considered would be their inevitable reunion. Next Part
