Chapter 7 It had been 2 weeks since the guys and Shelby had seen Justin face to face. They’d seen plenty of him on TV and heard plenty about him on the radio. As for Justin he had been sentenced to 6 months in jail and 3 years probation, since it was his first offense. Shelby had yet to leave Lance’s side for more then a few hours. “ Shelb I’m going to get some coffee.” JC said as he stood up. “ Do you want me to get you one?” he asked as he kissed the top of Shelby’s head. “Sure.” Shelby said with a shrug as she continued to rub Lance’s hand like she had done the past 2 weeks. She waited until the door click shut before she started singing to Lance. She felt like this was her last hope. She wrote a song that told him how she felt about him. She had written it the times she’d been away from him. The times that guys felt it was right her to go home and rest. “I get a feeling I can't explain Whenever your eyes meet mine My heart spins in circles And I lose all space and time And now that we're standing face to face Somethin' tells me It's gonna be okay And I'm ready to fall in love tonight Ready to hold my heart open wide I can't promise forever but baby I'll try Yes, I'm ready to fall in love tonight.” Shelby sang softly. “I know you've been watching Choosin' your moment I've been dreaming of that day No one before you has gotten to me this way And now that we're standing face to face There's something that I need to say. And I'm ready to fall in love tonight Ready to hold my heart open wide I can't promise forever but baby I'll try Yes, I'm ready to fall in love tonight.” She continued to sing as she rubbed Lance’s hand. “ Nothing is certain, this I know Wherever we're headed I'm ready to go I can't promise forever but baby I'll try Yes I'm ready to fall in love tonight.” She sang as she felt a squeeze on her hand. “Yes I'm ready to fall in love tonight Yes, I'm ready to fall in love tonight.” She sang the final words as tears streamed down her face. She tried to hide the tears as she looked at Lance. “ I love you.” She whispered as he squeezed her hand again. It was then she pressed the Call Nurse button.  It only took a few seconds for a nurse to come in. “Page Dr. Grey.” A nurse said to another nurse as she checked Lance. Shelby watched as the nurse did her checks. It was like a miracle that Lance had awoken after 2 weeks of a deep, deep sleep. Who would have known that her song and confession would awake him? “ How are we feeling MR. Bass?” Dr. Grey asked as she touched Lance’s feet. He just wiggled his toes in response. “ How about we remove these wires and tubes for you.” She said as she motioned for Shelby to go wait down in the waiting room. “I’ll be back baby.” Shelby said as Lance squeezed her hand. As Shelby made her way to the Waiting room she passed JC. “ Is he ok?” JC asked worriedly. “Just fine.” Shelby replied with a smile. It had been one of the first since it had all happen. “ He woke up.” She said as they slowly made there way to the waiting room. “That’s great.” JC exclaimed. Neither of them knew they’d have a long road in front of them before there lives would be back to normal. Story Index
