Chapter 10 A short time later everyone including Lance’s family were outside awaiting the food. Kyle was busy flipping burgers, turning hot dogs and mastering the steaks. They all talked about their newfound ambitions and dreams since the whole Justin ordeal. They also talked about plans for their new album and possible tour ideas, even though Johnny advised them not to think or worry about it so soon. After all Justin could do something. “Hey Honey.” Jackson ‘Jack’ Lynne sad as he walked into the back yard a short time later with Morgan following close behind him. She was ready to spring the plan into action. “Hey Daddy.” Shelby said as she blew her dad a kiss. Her dad had raised her, Kyle and Morgan since a very young age. Kyle had been 7, Shelby had been 4 and Morgan had been 2 when their mother walked out the door and out of their lives. They hadn’t seen or heard from her sense that day. “ Hey Morgan.” JC said with a warm smile but Morgan just rolled her eyes. She didn’t want to be there but Justin had promised her so much to do this for him. He knew that only she could do, not Brit or anyone else. She could do it and no one would suspect a thing. “ How’s Florida State treating you?” “Great just great.” Morgan replied coldly as she plopped down on a lawn chair far away from Shelby and Lance who were talking to Jack, Jim and Diane about something. “Still studying photography?” JC asked as he motioned the camera on her lap. “Yeah.” Morgan replied as she watched Lance and Shelby. She was waiting for the perfect moment to take a picture that would change their lives, as they knew it. “You know I think Johnny was saying we needed a photographer.” JC said with a pause and had to stifle laughter. Chris, Kelly and Alex were trying to throw popcorn into his mouth but were missing badly. “ Maybe you can do it.” He said as she thought about it. It would be perfect. It would push the plan farther ahead then Justin or Britney could have ever thought. “I’ll have to talk to him about it.” Morgan replied with a smug smile. Across the yard Shelby fussed with the radio suddenly a song came on and her, Alex and Kate started singing along with it. It was a song they had found themselves singing many times as they traveled with the guys. It seemed to get them through everything. It didn’t matter what was going on around them the world seemed to stop for a few seconds to allow them to enjoy the moment just like it now. If it makes you happy- Sheryl Crow “That song brings back so many memories.” Kate said with a smile as she sat down on her husband’s lap and gave him a passionate kiss. “Like that one time when we left Shelby in Cincinnati-.” Alex started to say before she and everyone including Shelby began to laugh. “That was so funny.” Lance said as he kissed the top of Shelby’s head. “ Good thing I noticed she was gone before we left the state borders.” He said as she blushed. “ What happened?” Kelly asked Chris as everyone continued to laugh. “ I’ll tell you later honey.” Chris said as he kissed her as everyone began sharing stories of the good times. They all had a good laugh until they brought up the story about Jenny. Jenny was Chris’ last girlfriend who had left him suddenly. They’d met after a radio station contest and had dated for a little over 2 years. “ It’s ok hon.” Kelly said as she squeezed his hand. She could tell his love for her lived on but he was moving on with her. She could also tell that she hurt him in more ways then one. She hated the fact he often cried out Jenny’s name at night. She hadn’t told him about it because she felt it wasn’t right for her to do. “They’re so cute.” Kate said to JC as they fed each other some BBQ Potato chips. “ They belong with each other.” She said as they both watched them. The cuddled, kissed and giggled. They loved each other it just took Shelby going down the wrong path before she realized it. Little did they know Morgan had got what she wanted for now. By this time tomorrow the world would know about Shelby and Lance. And in a few weeks she’d find a way to hurt them both the same way. She knew Justin and Britney would be pleased with the information she was going to get from Johnny about the available position on the staff. That position would get her All Access to them and make the plan work more smoothly, more smoothly than it would have before. Story Index
