Heroes...
Let's talk about heroes...n how they can come and go-
Let's talk about heroes...some of whom we'll never know...
Let's forget the homerun hitters
or actors on the screen-
Don't count the players who can
Always hit the green...
Heroes are the ones we learn to trust...
They reach out to others and give more than they must...
From the end of the day...to each new start...
Heroes give all they have...but always from their heart...
God bless Worcester's six-
Who bravely answered their last call-
May their angel wings shine brightly...
For from their hearts-they gave their all...

Firemen's Poem...Shared by Senator Edward M. Kennedy at the Memorial Service
For Worcester, Massachusetts Six Fallen Heroes...

"Brother when you weep for me...Remember that is was meant to be...
Lay me down and when you leave...Remember I'll be at your sleeve...
In every dark and choking hall...I'll be there as you slowly crawl...
On every roof in driving snow...I'll hold your coat and you will know...
In cellars hot with seering heat...in windows where a gate you meet...
In closets where young children hide...you know I'll be there at your side...
The house from which I now respond...is over-staffed with heroes gone...
Men who answered one last bell...did the job and did it well...
As firemen we understand...that Death's card is dealt in our hand...
A card we hope we never play...but one we hold there anyway...
That card is something we ignore...as we crawl across a weakened floor...
For we know that we're the only prayer...for anyone that might be there...
So remember as you wipe your tears...the joy I knew throughout the years...
As I did the job I loved to do...I pray that thought will see you through..."

Firefighter's Prayer...
When I am called to duty God...wherever flames may rage...
Give me strength to save some life...
And if according to your will...I have to lose my life...
Please bless with Your protecting hand
                   my children ....and my wife....Amen
All cities have their own everyday angels...police,emts,drs,firefighters,teachers,and the list is
endless...all we need do is open our eyes and look around...when days are dark their open hearts, outreached hands and even just their twinkling smiles give us the strength to continue
on...those qualities are what a hero is all about...God bless all our everyday heroes....
This page is dedicated in memory of the six fallen firefighters from Worcester, Massachusetts....
Friday, December 3,1999  at approx. 6 pm will be etched in our memory forever...

For it was on this day that   Paul Brotherton, Jay Lyons, Jeremiah Lucey, Joseph McGuirk,
Timothy Jackson and  Leiutenant Thomas Spencer  answered what would prove
to be their last call at the Cold Storage Warehouse while searching for a young homeless
couple...with their memory we have learned the meaning of true selflessness and bravery.

God bless their souls and may they rest in peace.....and God bless their families, friends,
and all who knew them....
Heaven is blessed with six true angels and on the night of December 3,1999 six new stars
began to shine brightly over our city....................
