My wife (Kathy), our dog (Princess), and I live in the Appalachian Mountains of Southwest Virginia. We have two sons Roy and Michael and five grandchildren and one great grand-daughter. The Lord has blessed our family in many ways.
Our small town of Grundy has an orphanage (Mountain Mission School), a College of Law, Teen Center, numerous Churches, one of the best High School Wrestling Teams in the state, and is close to the Breaks Interstate Park. Breaks Park is often referred to as the Grand Canyon of the South and is a big tourist attraction and a favorite get away for local folks.
Our area is filled with many great and wonderful friends and neighbors who are "just country folks". Life here in the mountains, hills, and valleys move slow, easy, and free. We don't have to worry about locked doors or be afraid to travel about the area. If one should have car trouble, someone will stop to help, not hurt. This area is a true picture or the old saying "a stranger is a friend you haven't met yet". We feel so lucky to live in an area with such wonderful folks.
I am Pastor of Ratliff Chapel Baptist Church located at Little Prater. We are not a large group, but the love and fellowship in this little church is heavenly. Visitors are made welcome by everyone and never leave without a sincere hug of welcome from several members. This group are the true image of a "church family". Again, the Lord has blessed us richly by placing us there.
