CHAPEL

It is written, "GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS, THAT HE LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR ANOTHER."

The City of New York and the nation has suffered a terrible tragedy. The count is not in on how many lives were lost. Among the that count are 300 New York City firefighters.

Those brave men died in an attempt to rescue victims of the WTC attack. They were in the building looking for victims when the towers collapsed. They sacrificed themselves for others. They weren't thinking of their own safety as they entered the building, but of the safety of others. These heroes gave their lives in the performance of their duty. Let's not forget their sacrifice as we pray for their families and the families of all who were lost that day.

"Dear God, we ask you to comfort those families that lost loved ones in this senseless attack. Put ypur loving arms around them and bring them comfort. We ask especially for comfort for the families of the firefighters that were loved. May it bring the families comfort knowing that they died doing thier duty as they saw it. To go in and rescue victims, even tho they knew they might not get out again. Comfort all who mourn.

We ask that you guide President Bush to act with wisdom and caution. Bless those who are working to help the recovery process. Heal the nation and bring it's people closer to you. In Jesus' name we ask. AMEN."

MEMORIAL

December 7, 2001. Today, I'd like to share some reflections on the price of freedom. The freedoms we have in this country came at a high price. Freedom isn't free nor is it cheap. 60 years ago, we found that out. Violence awoke a sleeping giant. Many paid the ultimate price to keep us free. The rights we have in this country were paid for with blod. A quote to think about is "I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me." That right is the right to be a free american. Many have fought and died to give us that right. As Christmas approaches we also remember that we are free from sin. That freedom had a high cost to. It cost Jesus his life. He gave it willingly because that's what the father had in mind. He loves us so much that he gave Jesus to die for us. Let's not forgert that the first 6 letters in Christmas are CHRIST. Never let us forget what this season is about. "Please God, never let us forget what christmas is really about. Bless all those who are at war and those who in the past have been there. Keep them all safe. AMEN."

December 24, 2001. "FEAR NOT,FOR BEHOLD, I BRING YOU GOOD TIDINGS OF GREAT JOY WHICH SHALL BE TO ALL PEOPLE. FOR UNTO IS BORN THIS DAY, IN THE CITY OF DAVID, A SAVIOR, WHICH IS CHRIST THE LORD." Imagine the awe of the shepherds when they heard that! They were the FIRST to hear the news! They didn't hesitate to go and worship him. The word Christmas comes from his name. His mother called him Jesus, for that was what the angel told her to name him. When the shepherds left, they went away praising God! They had seen the promised one. Let us join them in their praising. "Dear God, let us join the shepherds in raising our voices in praise to you." AMEN.

December 25, 2001. Merry Christmas. How often do we say that without thinking about what Christmas is really about? Plenty. Christmas, is not about Santa Claus or reindeer. It's about love and family. More importantly, it's about Jesus. At Christmas, his coming is celebrated. He came to give us peace. A peace that we can't understand. "Thank you God for sending Jesus to save us. AMEN."

Good Friday, 2002. In ancient times a blood sacrifice was required for the atonement of sin. When sin came into the world, so did the promise of a Savior. Today we think about the ultimate sacrifice. The one time sacrifice for the atonement for all, Jesus. It wasn't the just the nails that held him to the cross, it was his choice. He could've very easily saved himself but he followed his father's will. As he said, "Not my will, but thine be done." As I hold the nail that represents sin, I know who it was that put those nails in him. It was all of us. He obeyed his father's will by going through with this. He did it because the father loves us and so does Jesus. Who am I that He would go through all that agony for me? I am one loved by God, one who God wished saved. "Thank you God for loving us that much. AMEN."

June 14, 2002. on this day in 1777, the flag was adopted as a symbol of our country. She represents us where ever she may wave. So, let's honor her each day with these words:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

As Red Skelton so eloqutly stated in a commentary on the pledge for the words "To the Flag" Our standard; Old Glory; a symbol of freedom; wherever she waves there is respect, because your loyalty has given her a dignity that shouts "FREEDOM IS EVERYBODY'S JOB!" Think about that whenever you see the flag waving high.

September 9, 2002. This was in a local church bulletin under "PLEASE INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING IN YOUR PRAYERS THIS WEEK:"

Pray for the families and loved ones of the brave firefighters, police, emergency workers & military personnel who lost their lives or were seriously injured on 9/11. Pray also for the families and friends who lost their loved ones on 9/11.

Pray today for God to touch the hearts of those who would harm innocent people and change their lives through His truth. Pray especially for the next generation, so that they will grow up with love instead of hatred in their hearts.

I would also like to add this. Pray for our leaders so that they act with caution & wisdom.

September 11, 2002. It is now 1 year since the terror attack on New York. It was a wake up call. A violation of our right to "Freedom from fear." As Americans, that is considered one of the 4 great freedoms. We have freedoms here that you won't find everywhere. Among them the right to worship God or not as we please. The right to say the government stinks without fear of being thrown in jail. The power to change things by using our right to vote. Today we especially want to remember all those who died a year ago in this vicious attack. Also to urge you to pray for their families. May we continue to draw closer to God.

October 25, 2002. Today, the country lost a voice of reason. Senator Wellstone & 7 others were killed when their plane crashed in Northern Minnesota. He leaves a legacy of standing up for the people who elected him. Friends and detractors alike remember him as a man filled with passion and compassion, and for a sense of humor. He had passion for the work he was doing and compassion for the people he served. His parents were Russian Jews who came to this country to be free. He never forgot that. he never forgot the people he served either. I only pray that who ever gets elected carries on where Sen. Wellstone left off and continues to be a voice of reason. I ask you to pray for the families of those who were killed today, that God will comfort them. Dear God, we ask you to be with those who mourn tonight. Comfort them with your love. In Jesus' name, amen.

November 11, 2002. Today is Veteran's Day. If you see a veteran, say "Thank you."

February 1, 2003. Please keep the families & friends of COLUMBIA's crew in your prayers. Ask God to comfort them.

March 22, 2003. Please pray for the safey of our troops, their families and friends. For the safety of the Iraqi people and for a swift end to this whole thing.

Good Friday, 2003. VICTORY! PT.1 Today is a victory celebration! Sounds strange for the day we remember the death of Jesus. However, his death brought victory over sin. All our sins died with him. They were buried with him. They stayed buried. He took on the sins of the world and conquered them. In his death he was victorious over sin. Thank you Jesus for giving us the victory over sin.

Easter, 2003. VICTORY! PT. 2. Now we move forward a few days. The victory over sin has been won, but Jesus had died. As the women came to properly prepare his body they found out otherwise. "He is not here, he has risen as he said." Is what they were told. When he rose again, he gave us the victory over death. Death couldn't hold him and it no longer has power over us. Thank you jesus for giving us the victory over death. "HE IS RISEN INDEED!" ALLELUIA!

Mother's Day, 2003. Thank God for moms. Thank you God for the gift of moms. Amen.

Memorial Day 2003. "LEST WE FORGET!" Take a trip to a veteran's cemetary. Look at all the stones & flags. Then remember all those who died to keep us free.

July 4 2003. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!" We live free, but that freedom was bought by blood. This country became free by blood. It stayed free by blood. It stayed together, by blood. All our freedoms were bought with the shedding of blood. I don't know if this America is what was envisioned by the founding fathers or not. I only know that this America is home. Thank you God for leting me live in a place like this.

March, 2005. Are you a sun or a moon? I know that seems like a crazy question. Let's look at what each do. The sun shines light and gives warmth to the earth. The moon reflects the sun's light and regulates tides. The fact that the moon reflects the sun's light is what I'm going to explore. A moon is a person who reflects God's love by serving others. In my job I'm a moon. A moon person reflects the love that God has for people. It shows in what they do for others. I serve God by serving meals to senior citizens. I can do that because God loves me, and I show it by what I do for them. Jesus said "Feed My People". When he said that, he didn't mean just spiritually. Thank you God for allowing me to be one of your moons. Amen.
