TAMARACK FIRE
Early August in the summer of 2000 the Tamarack fire began near a burn barrel in light grassy fuels. Despite efforts by the Oregon Department of Forestry fire fighters a westerly wind soon pushed it into sage and juniper and then into thick timber where it soon became unmanageable. When all was said and done some 8,000 acres of private ground had burned, most of it in marketable timber.
Photos were taken from Mt. Pisgah LO(darn, I had forgotten my polarizer lens on this day!) some 19 miles to the SW of the fire
