THIS WAS MY BELOVED SUMMER HOME FROM 1991 TO 1993. Although Iron mtn doesn't see much fire activity it does see swarms of visitors as it is located amidst an absolutely magical patchwork of forest, rock and meadow. The wildflower display(over 300 varieties of flowering plants are found on the mountain!) is one of the best in the Northwest and it attracts humming birds and tourists galore during its peak in the first half of July.

cliffs into a botanical wonderland!

Iron Mtn-they had to blow off the top of the
mountain with dynamite just to make room for a lookout!

Forest Service employees construct
memorial to "Iron" Mike Robin
Tragedy befell Iron Mountain in 1990 when the lookout on duty, Mike Robin, accidently slipped and fell to his death over the cliffs surrounding the lookout.
Thanks for everything Mike, you are deeply missed.
