Being opposed to the war in Iraq has nothing to do with patriotism. I was a combat Marine in Vietnam. I fly the Stars and Stripes in front of my house every single day. I am a proud American. I know why we celebrate the 4th of July and on that day wear red, white and blue. I celebrate the Birthday of the Marine Corps and support America's troops. But... I am against the war in Iraq. Here's why:
1. War kills innocent people.
2. Iraq did not cause the 911 terrorist attack. None of the terrorists came from Iraq.
3. A war against Iraq will isolate the US from the rest of the world.
4. At this time Iraq does not pose a clear and present danger to the U.S. We would be sending military men and women needlessly into harms way.
5. We should be spending time and money to fight terrorism in general, not just Iraq.
6. Invading Iraq will be an act of aggression, not self-defense.
7. During the 1990s, inspectors dismantled most of Iraq's dangerous weapons. Inspectors and containment can keep Iraq under wrap.
8. An attack would make us less safe. It will ignite anti-American sentiment around the world and will undermine the effort against terrorism.
9. An invasion will take resources away from needed priorities at home such as the economy, education, health care, crime prevention, senior welfare, homeless persons, drug & alcohol concerns, etc.
10. If we invade Iraq and win, then what? President Bush does not have a workable, clear plan for controlling or rebuilding Iraq.
11. We should not wage a war for oil.
12. There are other options available: inspections, containment, concentrate on getting Saddam, get other countries involved...
13. Most people in other countries do not back the war at this time. Commerce, tourist trade, scientific cooperation, etc. would be in jeopardy.
14. There are many other countries that pose a more serious nuclear threat than does Iraq.
15. War destroys historical buildings, places and economic infrastructure elements.

BOMB IRAQ SONG
(To the tune of 'If You're Happy and You Know it, Clap Your Hands')
If we cannot find Osama, bomb Iraq.
If the markets hurt your Mama, bomb Iraq.
If the terrorists are Saudi,
And the bank takes back your Audi,
And the TV shows are bawdy,
Bomb Iraq.
If the corporate scandal's growing, bomb Iraq.
And your ties to them are showin', bomb Iraq.
If the smoking gun ain't smokin',
We don't care, and we're not jokin',
That Saddam will soon be croakin',
Bomb Iraq.
Even if we have no allies, bomb Iraq.
From the sand dunes to the valleys, bomb Iraq.
So to hell with the inspections,
Let's look tough for the elections,
Close your mind and take directions,
Bomb Iraq.
While the globe is slowly warming, bomb Iraq.
Yay! the clouds of war are storming, bomb Iraq.
If the ozone hole is growing,
Some things we prefer not knowing,
(Though our ignorance is showing),
Bomb Iraq.
So here's one for dear old Daddy, bomb Iraq.
From his favorite little laddy, bomb Iraq.
Saying No! would look like treason,
It's the Hussein hunting season,
Even if we have no reason,
Bomb Iraq.
