This list of internet links is fairly small, but what it lacks in quantity, it more than makes up for in quality! Most of these sites have their own "link" pages with many, many individual listings. I will be adding more pages to my own list as time allows.
The Witches League for Public Awareness This is one of the first pagan sites that I found on the internet. It is an excellent site to learn about the basics of Witchcraft and the problems modern Witches are faced with. Tons of links to individual Witch pages.
The Witches Voice Another Witch Advocacy Site that is very good. It is run by Fritz Jung and Wren Cabot Walker, two Witches that I have a great deal of respect for.
The Brewer's Witch BBSThis is a really cool site with lots of links to Texas Pagan pages. It is published by Donal, who developed the Newsgroup Soc.Religion.Paganism. It is from Houston, Texas, and helps coordinate alot of the activities and events for Houstons active pagan community.
The Lady of Passion and Mystery When I stumbled upon this site I was stunned at the beauty of it. It is huge, but really easy to navigate. Diana has a large section on HTML tips, and extensive links and info on Renaissance Faires.
THE CRAFT Very nicely done page put out by Selene. She is a wonderful Southern Lady who does a great job explaining Wiccan Concepts and Ideas.
Shez's Old Craft Homepage What can I say about Shez?! I first "met" her in a Newsgroup and was charmed right off my feet. Her site is crammed full of Olde English folklore, herbal remedies, candle work, crafts and the like. I know she is from England, but there has to be some Texas blood in there somewhere ;)
The Witch's Hearth This has to be one of the warmest and most beautiful sites that I have found. The beautiful look only sets the stage for some excellent content. You have to see this one to believe it!
Madeleine's Palace Maddie's Site is exactly what I think the web needs more of. She is very down to earth, and expresses her own unique views on the world, and Wicca, without being overbearing. It is a small site, but remember: Quality, not quantity!
Elfrey's Alter A very nicely done page dealing with divination and tartot. The explainations are very clear and easy to follow. A must if you wish to learn (or brush up on) your spreads and readings.
Oh, and while I am on the topic: Over all, the vast majority of posters on the Newsgroups are polite, consciencious, and intelligent. You ask a question, and they do all they can to help you. There are, however, exceptions to this. These exceptions come in several forms.
Trolls: People who are so bored with life and starved for attention that they post extremely inflammatory messages just to get a rise out of the other posters. IGNORE them! If you respond to their posts you are just fueling their pathetic little fire.
Spammers: People who, for some strange reason, believe that because you are curious about another religion, you would be interested in their latest version of the Pyramid scheme. Go figure? They are annoying, but easily ignored; or you can report them to their ISP and maybe get them kicked off the net.
Misc. Flamers: I didn't know what to call this small group, but thought you should be aware of them. Occasionally, you run across someone that has only one tool in their "debate toolbox", i.e. a hammer, which they swing swiftly at anyone who doesn't see things their way. My suggestion is to take the "high ground". Be polite, don't loose your temper, keep the discussion on rational terms and your views will receive a much better consideration among the other posters than the "screamers" do.
I really enjoy the newsgroups, and have met alot of interesting, informative people there. Pagans, Witches, Atheists, Satanists, and Christians, to name a few. I just wish that I had more time to spend reading them!
The Alt.Religion.Wicca NewsgroupThe first newsgroup that I ever "lurked" in. There is a seemingly endless supply of posted messages on every Wiccan and pagan topic imaginable. Its a good place to see the different applications and interpretations of Wicca by Wiccans. Also, alot of posts by non-Wiccans, which is nice because you get to get a broader range of outlooks. ARW comes under fire often by trolls, which can be a pain, but it is still worth a visit.
The Soc.Religion.Paganism Newsgroup This is a group similar to ARW, but it is moderated. A person looks over the posts before they appear in the group and weeds out all the "pyramid scheme" and "you are all going to Hell" posts. Posting can be slow and frustrating at first, since it takes time for your message to be reviewed. But if you post often enough, and behave yourself, you can get pre-approved so your messages go straight up immediately.
The Tx.Religion.Paganism Newsgroup I just recently found this group. Its really small, since it is regional. There have been some good discussions, but I always seem to come in after a topic has run its course!
The following is a partial list of the books that I have enjoyed, and learned much from. I do not make any claims as to the accuracy of the information or ideas put forth. There is a fair amount of disagreement among Witches as to the authenticity of "this" book, or "that" book. I am more of the mind that just because someone says that a book is crap, it doesn't mean that the same book won't be excactly the tool needed by someone else. I simply have enjoyed these titles and found various parts of them useful. It is up to you to decide if they have something to offer you.
