Save the Dartmouth Badgers!

In the next few months South Hams Council are planning to carve out the Townstal Valley near Dartmouth, South Devon, England, to create a new road. Once this is completed, there are plans to build another road to reach a new sewage treatment works. This will effectively destroy part of one of the largest badger colonies in Britain. Industrial development will result, but there is no local demand.

The sewage treatment works and its access road were originally planned to go on the river-front where they would cause no environmental damage. Pressure from a handful of anonymous and influential residents had this plan suspended. There are plans to cash-crop the woodland on a grand scale - the badgers green canopy will probably end up as bog roll...

Funding for the development of the valley is severely limited and any delay could play havoc with their plans.
