In almost every school environment, you can hear a "hot topic" discussed.

At David's school, any staff or student disagreement is discussed in an interdisciplinary team meeting to address concerns and to determine the best course of action.  This allows most disagreements to be resolved in the early stages of discussion. ***********************************************

Joan and Mike emphasized the impact that divorce has on students. School social workers can help with this as well as provide guidance for establishing preschool and after school programs.     David discussed the limitations that school social workers face when assigned to special education only. He believes that the entire student population could and should benefit from social services.

As an example of dilemmas one can face, school social workers have been requested to transport children, which school liability does not cover. Louis instructs school social workers not to do this and informs them that if they choose to transport children anyway, they are accepting liability for that action.
