The closest town, Marak, was the home to over three hundred thousand people. Sobe only had two hundred people living there. It is the home of Sai-Nah, a girl who had lived there since she was two, when she had fled from Narimah, with her mother and father when they were attacked by King Christoph’s army from Celes, the closest country to Avalon. But now Avalon is being threatened with a war of their own and they aren’t ready. Avalon’s small army consisted only of men, those men had the one thing that made them different, they had Dragary wings. It was same throughout the world, but that rule was one day challenged by an unsuspecting person. The big day was soon to be planned but a storm cloud loomed overhead. Sai’s dragairy wings were talked about all over Sobe. Most people had never heard of a woman having Dragiary wings, other’s thought it was impossible. But it was possible. Sai walked into her house that night exhausted as ever. The ride to the theatre made her sleepy and the proposal shocked her. the next morning Sai was talking to herself. “Is this what he meant by me seeing him in a tux more?” she said to herself blushing. “I’m happy anyway. I must tell mother and father in the morning. They will be delighted to hear I am going to be married!” Suddenly, Sai was pulled back to reality by a knock at her door. She opened it to find two men from the local army. “Hello, what can I do for you two?” Sai said cheerfully. “I hear that you and the General are to be married, and I congratulate you. But, we are here to ask for you to come with us.” The first man said sternly. “Well...ok but wont you come in and have some coffee?” Sai said avoiding the subject. “Sure we’d love..” the second officer began but the first one stopped him. “We have to pass on that, maybe another time.” The first man said. “Ok then, lets go.” Sai said walking out of her house. The men walked ahead of her to tell her of the current situation. “We are heading to the Commander's post. He would like to have a word with you. Oh and my name is Major Nik Chars, and this,” Major Nik said pointing to the other man. “Is Private Jon Locke.” “Nice to meet the both of you.” Sai said smiling cheerfully. |
