Sai-Nah Part 1 By: Quistis_trepe1988 Prologue Sobe is a large town to the people living there, but it was considered small to everyone else. The closest town, Marak, was the home to over three hundred thousand people. Sobe only had two hundred people living there. It is the home of Sai-Nah, a girl who had lived there since she was two, when she had fled from Narimah, with her mother and father when they were attacked by King Christoph’s army from Celes, the closest country to Avalon. But now Avalon is being threatened with a war of their own and they aren’t ready. Avalon’s small army consisted only of men, those men had the one thing that made them different, they had Dragary wings. It was same throughout the world, but that rule was one day challenged by an unsuspecting person. Sai-Nah “Sai?, Sai! Are you there?” Maj-Rai said loudly around her. Then she finally woke. “Huh!? Oh, sorry Maj, I felt this weird feeling again, like someone is telling me inside to wake up.” Said Sai. “What do you mean calling you inside to wake up? I was just yelling at you to come to.” “That’s not what I mean. I mean like something hasn’t come to me.” Sai said. “Never mind, I don’t even want to know the details. Another one of those girl things.” Maj said walking away. “You’re supposed to support me, remember, I’m your girlfriend?” Maj stopped in his tracks. “You got me there, but you have been acting like this for some time now. When will you go back to normal?” “I don’t know.” She said silently. “Whatever, lets go, I got a surprise for you.” Maj said walking out the door. Sobe was always full with people. It was known for it's taverns, and shops. That was what kept the army up and running. But they were still under funded because not many people living there had a lot of money. And the tourists came by only two times a year. One was for the annual horse races, and the other one is tavern’s “see-how-much-you-can-drink-until-you-pass-out” drinking games. Last year’s winner was a man from the country of Kazaka, and had drunk 50 shots of liquor and lasted longer than the other 20 men there by 10 minutes and them passed out for three days (talk about a hangover). But there were more of these contest between the locals, most only lasted five minutes because they could only buy five shots and would last through three. It brought in money, but that money was gone in less than a month before it could get to the army. Sai-Nah worked in the tavern that held the games, and when the day came, she got more tips that day than she would of made in three months. Every year after work that day, seventy five percent of those tips went into savings for her mother and father. One time while Maj-Rai was visiting her at work, when a guy who looked like he was in his early thirties came up to Sai and smacked her in the face for refusing him service. He was obviously drunk, so she didn’t think of it much. But Maj slugged him so hard she thought he wasn’t drunk anymore. But before the man had a chance to get back up, Maj grabbed Sai by the arm and pulled her out of there with him. Thankfully, she never saw him again. Sai always knew she was different than the other women in the town. Sure, she looked like them, all the women of that village had blonde or black hair, with blue or green eyes. Alot of the tourists stuck out because of their height. Sobe was home to the tallest people in Avalon. Ranging from 5'5" to 6'5". Sai had Blonde hair, blue eyes, was 5'7", and was lucky enough to catch the eye and heart of Maj-Rai, the General of the army of Avalon. Whenever close to danger, she felt this pain in her chest like something is trying to release itself from her. One day it did. When Sai and Maj were walking around Sobe one day, when the usual young boys were trying to get across the train tracks while a train was speeding towards them. Usually, they all make it, only because they run across a minute before the train comes. But this time a boy who was running across tripped and caught his foot in one of the rails. With all the adrenaline, he couldn’t think so he just squirmed and cried. People who saw this would not go to save the boy, knowing they would be hit. Sai had that feeling again in her chest, but this time the pain was so unbearable, that she cried out in pain. Maj turned to her. “What’s wrong? Are you hurt?” “No,” said Sai. “I feel it again.” Then suddenly, huge Dragary wings formed on her back. She looked like a fairy! Her wings came out at least 3 feet! They were transparent blue and looked very strong. Maj and the others stepped back in amazement. Then, as if programmed, she flew to the tracks, picked up the boy before the train hit him, and put him down out of harm’s way. He was crying, when she let go of him. She had a look of a mother’s gentle smile. Maj came running to her. “Sai, what happened to you?” He said. “I don’t know, but I have a feeling that was what all my pain was about.” Sai said floating down as her wings disappeared. “Oh and you still haven't given me my surprise, Maj.” Sai said smiling.
