BASIC RULES
Tetra Master is a game similar to Triple Triad from Final Fantasy VIII. You collect cards by finding them as trasure, defeating monsters, or winning card games. When you win a card game, you get one enemy card which has been turned over to you. Or, if you won all the cards on the board, you get them all.
To play, go up to someone and press SQUARE. Each person plays with 5 of their cards. You play on a 4x4 grid with random squares on it blocked off. Players take turns playing their cards to capture the enemy cards and end up with the most on their side.
Each card can have up to 8 arrows in their sides and corners. Sides with arrows have attack pwers based on the 4 numbers and letters in the middle. Sides without arrows have no defense. The 1st number is a hexidecimal between 0 and #. It represents how strong the card is when it initiates an attack. The second is a letter: P, M, X, or A. P (physical) attacks the 3rd number. M (magical) attacks the 4th number. X attacks the lower of the 3rd and 4th numbers. A attacks the lowest number on the card.
When two cards have arrows pointing to each other, they have a card battle. This only happens when one card is played to cause the card battle. As I explained before, the card that initiates the battle uses its first number against the number on the 2nd card designated by the letter on the initiating card. But it isn't simple subtraction like in Triple Triad. It's randomized. But a higher number increases the chances of winning. A lot.
Another part of this game is combos. If you win a card through card battle (and card battle only, not through capturing a card where there wasn't an arrow or through combos), the card you just captured will also capture any cards it is pointing to. Therefore, it's possible to capture up to NINE cards with one card battle...... And you could even have multiple card battles with that card! It's pretty hard to fail to see the fact that combos can easily make or break your game, so you have to choose cards not only with lots of arrows for capturing enemy cards from all different directions but also cards with fewer arrows to prevent enemy combos.
Disappointed with your card's stats? Don't worry! As you use a card more, is stats will gradually raise. I'm not exactly sure how this works- whether it's winning more card battles, capturing more cards, or just being in more game. I think there's a maximum on the number stats because weaker cards never seem to get any better after a certain point... But I have no proof of this so don't take my word for it. But I do know that you can get any card's letter stat up to A, because you have to to become a Master.
You'll notice that in your card window, you have a little box that says your collecters level and a number of points. You get 10 points for each new card and 0 points for each repeat. You can add an additional 5 points to cards with unique arrow patterns, 1 point to each card with an X, and 2 points to each card with an A as the letter stat. More points= higher collector's level. The levels are:
