| Garnet is the princess of Alexandria and heir to the throne. Kind, devoted, and determined, she loves Alexandria and the plays of Lord Avon, especially "I Want to be Your Canary." She was born with eidolons imbedded in her along with a gift for white magic. She is worried about her mother's strange behavior, so she plots to escape. Luckily, she runs into Zidane and the rest of Tantalus, who are all too willing to help her. She leaves Alexandria and sets off on a quest to stop her mother's ambitions. During her journey, she adopts the pseudonym Dagger. Throughout the journey, she comes to understand her eidolons, learns what life outside the palace is like, and falls in love with Zidane.
Later in the game, Garnet comes to Eiko's home, Madain Sari. Everything there seems strangely familiar. Eventually, she realizes that Madain Sari is her hometown. She is a member of the legendary summoner tribe. Once, while she and her mother were out on a boat, the Invincible appeared and a sudden storm ensued. Garnet's mother died, and Garnet washed ashore far to the south. She was discovered by the king and queen of Alexandria, whose daughter, Garnet, had recently died. Since the current Garnet, or Sarah, as she was called then, bore an uncanny resemblance to the dead princess, the king adopted her, removing her summoner's horn and passing her off as the true princess. | |
