"To be forgotten is worse than death."
Freya is a strong, loyal rat-woman, a warrior of Burmecia. Her beloved, Sir Fratley, leaves to seek adventure and never returns. Freya goes out into the world to seek him, with little success. During her journey, she meets Zidane, but they soon part ways.

Later, Freya meets up with Zidane again at Lindblum's Festival of the Hunt. Afterwards, they discover that Alexandrian forces are attacking Burmecia. Along with Zidane, she hurries to her hometown, but it is too late. Everyone has either died or escaped to Cleyra, and the city is in shambles.

Zidane, Freya, and their allies move on to Cleyra, where they find the king of Burmecia and his son, Puck. The Alexandrian forces, unfortunately, have also gone to Cleyra. Black mages massacre almost everyone, and nearly defeat Zidane and Freya. In the nick of time, Sir Fratley returns and finishes them off. However, he has lost his memory and doesn't remember anyone, including his king and his beloved Freya.

Hurt but understanding, Freya leaves with Zidane on his mission to bring peace to the world and stop Kuja. She becomes a heroine even greater than Sir Fratley.
