PLAYING THE GAME
There are three places where you can play Chocobo Hot & Cold: Chocobo's Forest near Lindblum, Chocobo's Lagoon south of the Forgotten Continent, and Chocobo's Air Garden in the sky. Once you leave Lindblum for the first time, you can go to Chocobo's Forest and Mene, the moogle who runs the game, will tell you all the rules.
Mene explains how to find treasure and how you get points. Small items, like potions and eyedrops, are worth 1 point. Better items are worth two or more points depending on the item.
Now just how are you going to get the 10,000 points necessary for the robe of lords? Play Chocobo Hot & Cold for about 30 hours?! There are other bonuses, too! First of all, if you find one item within 5 seconds of the previous item, you get a bonus of 5 points. The values of this bonus and of each individual item is doubled in Lagoon and tripled in Air Garden. If you find 8 items in one game, you'll get a varying amount of points depending on how much time is left and where you're at. I've seen it vary from 40 points at 00 seconds in Lagoon to 900 points at about 15 seconds in Air Garden. There's another bonus for when you get 4 items that does not increase at different locations. You get 10 extra seconds and each item you find after the 4-point mark is worth double.
Some chocograph treasures (explained in the next section) will make your chocobo change colors. Light blue chocobos can walk on shallow water. Red chocobos can walk on shallow water and climb mountains. Dark blue chocobos can walk on any water and climb mountains. Gold chocobos can do all of the previous and fly, taking off and landing only in forests.
Sometimes you'll dig up something called a chocograph piece. There are six pieces which you can dig up over the course of the game at both Chocobo's Forest and Chocobo's Lagoon. Once you get all six (and get the sky ability), you can go to Chocobo's Air Garden. To find the Air Garden, fly around to the places listed in the chocograph pieces: above an island on Salvage, the archipeligo south of the Forgotten Continent; above Kuentis Peninsula, extending from the southeastern Outer Continent; above a cliff near Alexandria; above the ocean in the center of all 4 continents; and to the east of Seaways Canyon on the Forgotten Continent. The Air Garden will be at one of these locations. Once you find a distinct circular shadow (when you find it, you'll know it), use a dead pepper and you'll be there!

CHOCOGRAPHS
Every once in a while, you'll dig up a chocograph. Chocographs are little pointers for finding treasures you can dig up while riding Choco on the world map. (And you need the chocographs themselves to find the treasure.) You'll often find rare items with Chocographs.

DEAD PEPPERS
Once you become a red chocobo, you'll sometimes dig up an item called a dead pepper while playing Chocobo Hot & Cold. At various locations on the world map, you can use a dead pepper to find treasure!
