Maria Island
Day 1
Frank, Peter, Linda, Barbara, Paul, and David decided to come here after the Western Arthurs for something more relaxing. Catching the ferry from Triabunna , we spent the first night at Darlington amongst convict ruins. After setting up camp easy walks were had to the painted cliffs.
Day 2
An easy day. Walked up to Bishop and Clerk with stunning 360 degree views. On the way back we spent time at the fossil cliffs. In the afernoon I walked upstream to the reservoir with the hope of sighting the 40 spotted pardalote without success.
Day 3
Frank and I walked to and climbed Mt Maria with excellent views south to McRaes Isthmus. The climb up involves lots of large bolders which is great exercise. The rest of the day was spent walking south to Frenchs Farm and then on to Enchantment cove where we stayed another two nights.
Day 4
An excellent day hiking out to Haunted Bay where it is possible to sit on the granite outcrop watching the waves roll in all day.
Day 5
Walked back along Bloodstone Beach, Soldiers Beach and then the coastal track to Darlington where the afternoon ferry was caught back to Triabunna.
