Glossary - of local terms
bib - short for the Bibbulmun track and easier to spell.
Double Hutting - to skip one hut during the day and hence walk to the next campsite in one day. At the Perth end this is about 20km but at the Albany end it is more like 40km.
End to Ender - Someone who walks the entire length between Kalamunda and Albany
FLP - Funny Looking Person
Hokey Nut - a gumnut from the Marri gum, Corymbia calphylla a huge urn-shaped nut averaging about 2cm in diameter and easy to trip on. They are like ball bearings.
Green Book - A log book to enter brief details and comments at each hut.
Marron - A large freshwater yabby that West Australians go crazy over. A meal of Marron will average about $30.00 and tastes like Moreton Bay Bug or rally nice sweet crab meat.
Raincoat Yo-Yo - This occurs when the weather alternates between sunshine and showers. Frequent rests are required to drop the pack and change into or out of wet weather gear.
Red Book - A book for longer comments, amusing anecdotes and creative constructions at each hut.
Spekky - Short for spectacular, a relative term for much of this walk.
Waugal - The Rainbow Serpent which is the black picture on yellow trail markers found at least every few hundred metres or where the trail might get confusing. Always brings relief when one is found.
