Day 18 - Grimwade Hut to Balingup township

Rone and I got up early and I left at 6:30 am. This was a pleasant walk with views over lovely meadows. After passing Grimwade Rd I met David Monaghan and Dinni his sister in law. David is a track volunteer with an interest in the local flora and so I learnt a few facts about the local vegetation. We had morning tea by the end of which Rone appeared and we went on as a group of four. Near the Balingup bridge they offered to allow us to stay at their chalet so I volunteered whereas Rone went to the Origin centre.

I was amazed at heir generosity as I found with a number of people who lived or worked on or near the Bib track. The views from the rammed earth house was sensational. The pine plantation on the other side of the road has myth status for being the home of many a magic mushroom. There is a Cafe in Balingup itself called "The Magic Mushroom" that serves mushroom pies.

The Balingup Brook Bridge pictured below is about 4 km from Balingup itself as you walk to the South towards the town.
