Day 14 - Harris Dam to Collie Township

Every time we had a town to reach we got up early and left whilst it was still getting light. Collie was 21.3 km away and we planned to get there before lunch so the walking was quite brisk.

Within an hour of leaving camp we were south of lake Ballingall crossing Harris River over another lovely footbridge. A number of roads and powerlines were crossed before reaching Coalfields Rd, the major access road for Collie. I wasn't overly impressed with the walking but then again we were focussed on reaching a decent sized town with a few more facilities than Dwellingup.

My digital mobile was back to full reception and the town had all our needs. We decided to get twin share again at the Premier Hotel and this time I bought some ear plugs which didn't completely knock out the snoring but made conditions more bearable to sleep through than at Dwellingup.

The Premier Hotel was a great place for dinner and I shared a great bottle of wine with Rone from the local area (Allanson). Rone didn't drink much so I was pleasantly mellow by the time I went to sleep. One of the big changes from now until the end of the trip was that I was going to have a definite lunch and not just a lunch break. So I had cheese and sun dried tomatoes with vita-wheat crackers for lunch until the rest of the trip although I couldn't get the tomatoes after Donnelly River Village.
