Day 10 Dwellingup to Swamp Oak

I am pondering why I went twin share when I can't sleep in any proximity to Rone. I must buy some earplugs. Must have been to save money as I certainly couldn't sleep to that cacophony all night. This is not a personal criticism as snorers can't help snoring but I may need drugs for future hiking opportunities as every campsite in the world is inhabited by snorers.

Leaving Dwellingup at 10am, Rone and I caught up with Andrea and Karen who were out from Perth for the weekend to stay at Swamp Oak. It was a showery day and when we arrived at the hut in the early afternoon about 20 women on a guided walk were having afternoon tea there. A bit of a shock to find a large number of people in the bush but Bibbulmun Foundation have various guided opportunities for people who want to see the track but not in the way Rone and I and other end to enders see it.

The weather cleared so I ventured out to see the Murray River nearby at a popular car camping spot called "Charlie's Flat". Quite nice but not as nice as staying in the hut even if it wasn't on the river, the hut had a lovely outlook. During the afternoon a few blasts could be heard up the river valley, evidence that Alcoa was at work in the quest for more aluminium.
