Day 38 Mt Chance to Woolbales

Another superb day in the Pingerup Plains today. Last night for whatever reason began a sequence of days with insomnia. Unfortunately after Woolbales to try to get myself sleeping I tried physical exhaustion meaning my trip was accelerated significantly.

One of the problems with all the solo days so far is I have finished my books and I am getting bored with the Sudoku puzzle book that I purchased at Pemberton. Boredom is setting in. I had by this stage had 7 solo nights in huts. About half an hour before reaching the ascent trail to Mt Pingerup I met Harry and Margaret who were walking from Albany to Kalamunda. They recommended Tingle All Over in Walpole but in hind sight after speaking with Kevin again later I should have stayed at Walpole Lodge voted one of the best back packers in WA.

Mt Pingerup with its granite outcrops was hardly worthwhile as the views were better at Woolbales and Mt Chance. Arriving at Woolbales campsite I quickly ascended to the peak and found digital mobile reception once again. The wading was probably at its worst today just about a kilometre short of the campsite. Water was almost up to my knees in places so yes my feet got drenched.

Only one tiger snake to be seen today. The area is fascinating with open boggy grassy plains packed with wild flowers and islands of granite. Thank God I found another book at Woolbales to keep my mind busy.

Day 39 Woolbales to Walpole!

Lots of swampy sections at Pingerup Plains
