>Well it looks like we may be playing out of North sydney oval in 2006 when the current contract with aussie stadium expires. The new deal would save almost $1Million so they must look at it seriously.
>The boys are back in training and the new coaching team has taken them out to the sandhills at Cronulla. Also both macdougalls are fit and cant wait for the season to start.
>Ashley Harrison won the burrows player of the year too! So was there any award that he didn't get? Well done Ashley we hope you win them every year.
>With another game scheduled for brisbane next season planning is allready well underway those keen enough to buy tickets should buy them in bay 317 as that is where we will be sitting.
>In the next couple of weeks I hope to finalize the new website which will be at www.qforss.net
>The AGM was held last week and we welcome new commitee members Bruce, Matt, Geoff and Hooksey. We also thank outgoing office bearers, Terry and Shirley Omiros, Mike Thebridge, Darrell Paseri, and Rick Caine. Joe Kelly was voted to continue as conveynor with Jack Saunders as his deputy. Dave Hundt stepped down as secretary after two years of great service, but we roped him back onto the committee anyway. Kathi Searle is the new secretary and Garrick Cole is the treasurer. The full list is Conveynor, Joe Kelly, Deputy, Jack Saunders, Secretary, Kathi Searle, Treasurer, Garrick Cole, Webmaster Robert Olivieri. The six ordinary committee members are David Garnett, David Hundt, Brooke "hooksey" Anderson, Matthew Steele, Bruce Graham, and Geoff Roberts.
>Shaun Mcrae had his first day on the job today and was very enthusiastic at the press conference. "I'm really looking forward to working with everybody connected with the Club," McRae said. "We've got an enthusiastic group of players that want to improve, and the players have to take ownership of their role in what we want to achieve, in winning more games than last season and climbing the ladder." "I know what the pressures are like of coaching a team such as South Sydney but I am ready for that challenge," McRae told the gathered media."Unity, trust and loyalty is what we are after." Pre season training starts next monday for the boys. You beauty the evolution has started!
>We've got two new front rowers on the books with Richo announcing the signings of Michael Greenfield and Ray Moujalli to two year contracts. Both played in the jersey flegg grand final Greenfield for the sharks and Moujalli for the roosters. Greenfield is a hard-hitting 113kg prop forward that has also played Premier League and made his First Grade debut this year after playing for the australian schoolboys last year. Moujalli is 188cm tall and weighs 105kg. “Ray has been impressive all season and his signing continues the build up of great young footballers at the Rabbitohs,” Richardson said.
>The burrow bash was a great night Ashley Harrison and his parents were there. Ash won our player of the year award and was both suprised and thrilled. He later confided to a qforss member that he wanted to win the QforSS player of the year award every year! Ash was also quite taken with the belle of the ball (little Sophia) he couldn't hold her enough.... until she got hungry and started crying for some food from mum.
>At the red and green ball last night(friday), Ashley Harrison won the George Piggins award after being voted the rabbitohs best and fairest player for season 2004. He also won the clubman of the year and the Jack Rayner Medal for players player. Joe Williams won the John Sattler medal for rookie of the year and Mark Minichello won the supporters choice award.
>Souths Juniors have taken over the running of our Premier League and Jersey Flegg teams in a joint venture arrangement with the Football club that Rabbitohs chief executive Shane Richardson described as "one of the great coups of my life". It means that Souths juniors will wholly fund the lower grades in a deal worth much more than the previous grant. "This historic joint venture means the juniors are going to be heavily involved in the club and will ensure the survival of South Sydney," Richardson said. "I couldn't be happier."
>Mark your calendars for Saturday the 2nd of October the annual QforSS burrow bash will be held at the terminus hotel starting at 6pm. I need some help organising a play for the night details on link. For more details of activities and special guests. click here updated 14th Sep.
>Souths were thrashed 62-22 by the Canberra raiders last night the raiders secured the last play-off spot too. Wes Tillott withdrew with an ankle injury he was replaced by Brad Watts and David Thompson replaced the suspended Scott Geddes. Souths didn't start off too badly with Mark Minichello crossing for the first of two tries in the 18th minute to give souths the lead 6-4. The raiders then put more points on us to lead 22-6. There were simply too many easy yards up the middle last night and all season hopefully Peter Cusack and a fitter Scott Logan and Geddes can achieve this. When the raiders got tired of going up the middle they spun the ball wide to find even softer defence which allowed Marshall Chalk in his second top grade game to score four tries. A late first half try to Brad Watts made the score 22-10 at halftime. With Ashley Harrison not being able to come back on after suffering a concussion the defence really fell away. The raiders then put on four more tries before we could get on the board in the second half before they scored three more tries in the last ten minutes to make the final score 62-22 and keeping the wooden spoon in Redfern. But the sun came out this morning and we will have an experienced premiership winning coach next season as well as another origin centre in Shannon Hegarty. Also the Macdougall's will be fit and firing. Jersey Flegg are in the finals they play Penrith on Friday.
>Souths have announced the signing of an exciting young back from the Toowoomba Clydesdales Germaine Paulson who has played fullback for most of the season. Richo has been chasing him for a while and signed him to a two year deal. Shane Walker and Lee Hookey have been signed to one year deals.

>It's been a big week or so for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, with the Board deciding to replace head coach Paul Langmack with First Division's Arthur Kitinas. Brendan Hurst takes over from Kitinas coaching the reggies, while Mark Ellison remains in charge of the Jersey Flegg team. John Frare is Kitinas' assistant. The club is on the lookout for an experienced coach to take over from 2005 and finally re-launch Souths after three disappointing seasons back in the big time. Meanwhile, Shane Richardson - widely regarded as the best administrator in the great game of Rugby League - takes over as CEO this month after helping to revive the fortunes of clubs as varied as Penrith, Cronulla, Easts Brisbane and Hull FC. Richo has been given the task of finding the team a coach.
>Souths held an extremely successful corporate night recently, raising more than $100,000 for the club. Handy indeed. You can't help but be impressed with that side of things - the club has recently signed the Hilton Hotel, Emirates Airlines and BMW as sponsors. It's good to see the likes of Andrew Denton, Mike Whitney and Don Lane back in the Souths fold.

>WE BREACHED THE SALARY CAP!! Because we had so many injuries last year we used 39 A-Grade players. This eats into the second tier cap of $300k allocated for the players outside the 25 named at the start of the season. We went over the 300k by only $10,000 and will receive a fine of around $5000. Worst thing is though, because of our injuries this year, 9 of our 25 named, we have used 20% of the $300k already in 2004.
