Cluster lizards have many things in common with Insects, and
look more like Insects than they do lizards. They can survive
in the vacuum of space and also high temperatures. They can lay
eggs once every seven years. They might have been parasites of
Insects.
When the last surviving Insect of the Insect Wars burrowed into
a planetoid, the cluster lizards or their eggs came with it.
Humans later thought that they were indigenes of The Cluster, as
the planetoid became known when it became the center of an empire
led by His Divine Shadow. His Shadow used them to frighten humans
into compliance. They liked brains best.
