VIRUS 7/2001

1. Hello Ian, what's up? Is VIRUS what's left of your previous one man band INTESTINE with modifications, or is INTESTINE still in existence? Why the change?
Ian: No INTESTINE is long gone. Virus is a completely new and separate project. The music is a different style to Intestine.

2. What have you released and what items are on the horizon?
Ian: Virus- Bottled Babies CDR was released in May. It has 8 tracks on it. At least on split CD will be happening in the future followed by a full CD later on.

3. VIRUS is no doubt very brutal and heavy gore grind, but I'm scared to attempt comparing it to other acts! Help me out and let us in on bands that might have given you inspiration, or bands in general that have influenced you in any way.
Ian: Cock and Ball Torture, Hemdale, Exhumed, Squash Bowels, etc...

4. What are your feelings on the underground scene today? Are you happy with Australia's current scene status?
Ian: Yeah the scene's going alright. Naturally it would be great to see more Australian bands emerging in the future.

5. Your top 5 favorite albums please.
Ian: Wow that's a hard one. I'll give you the 5 releases I've listened to the most: Disembowelment - Transcendence into the Peripheral; Fudge Tunnel - Deep Diets; Cock and Ball Torture - Veni Vidi Spunky; Hemdale 14 song demo; Neuraxis - Imagery.

6. Did you see "Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2"? How about "Dracula 2000"? Are they not the biggest piles of crap ever to be considered "horror"? What are some movies that really deserve some attention in your opinion?
Ian: No, actually I'm more into sci-fi! The movie "Virus" is a good sci-fi and influnced the name of my band.

7. What bands would you prefer to appear on a split release with?
Ian: Any bands that are sick and heavy.

8. Describe the perfect woman.
Ian: No such thing, I want them all!

9. What would you do if you were the proud winner of an MTV sponsored house visit by none other than METALLICA?
Ian: This would never happen and I don't like Metallica! (That was one of those hypothetical questions. -Lee)

10. Your final words please.
Ian: Thanks so much for the interview. Any one interested in hearing some Australian hyper-death should contact VIRUS.
