SMES 2000 1. Erwin! How's it going? How's life I mean... Erwin: Hi Lee, I hope you're doing just as great as me. My life is pretty busy, but that's ok, I hate it to be bored. 2. Ok, let's begin like this. Your band I might describe as Cyber Grind Gore, but it's difficult to compare you to nearly any band. Sometimes I think of THE SECRET LIFE, have you heard that one? Give us a clue where your inspiration comes from. Maybe a few bands have influenced you but it's for the most part your own originality? Erwin: Yeah its hard to describe SMES' musick, some people that write me even call it a new styl. It would be called something like: "HARD-GORE" I think. The musick is based on all styles of music I hear everywhere, wether I like the style or not. This might be reggea, jazz (old & new), techno/gabber, to african bongo music. I wont buy cds of this, but if I see this on TV I try to understand their way of composing. Then I give that a SMES swing/techno gore injection and out comes this... SECRET LIFE kicks ass, Tyler knows how to melt brains! I'm looking forward to their upcoming split-cd. (I don't think it'll ever come out now? What's up Tyler? -Lee) 3. Discography/coming releases. It seems to be political, at least on the first demo. What kind of themes would you say are present in the music's imagery? And why do you choose those ideas? Erwin: There's no image, I made a song for a comp. tape called; "have you got image...or personality?" So its kind of like a reflection of what I'm thinking at the moment I make the song. To other people it doesn't have a meaning, just like people say: "I cant understand any lyrics coz of the voc. Effects", no, but they are rotten-gore. Besides they don't brag about this Pararotti or other stuff either... So, just enjoy the musick and sometimes laugh about the "musical jokes", that's it. 5. What made you decide to do SMES? Erwin: It started of as a joke, but this is realy starting to get serious now......... 6. Ok, now a serious question. Describe your worst drug and/or alcohol experience. Erwin: The worst drug experience for me comes back every 3 or 4 days when I go get myself some new grass, I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT!!!!!!!!!! 7. Describe the perfect woman. Erwin: There isnt any, its just like saying what you wanna eat everyday... A man should have about 50 girls to choose from every night, that would be perfect enough for me! 8. What are your favorite bands? Any new ones that need some promotion here? Erwin: At the time I play cds like REGURGITATE-"promo '99", SCRAWL "Q", GUT-"singles coll." And adv tapes of HAEMORRHAGE and LIBIDO AIRBAG... Bout new ones, I don't realy know to many... 9. Ok, movie time. What are your favorite flicks? Erwin: I realy like "ARMY OF DARKNESS", great humour and FX, also at times I like "ERASERHEAD" its experi-mental, and the last one that should be mentioned is "IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS" at the end it comes out the viewer is involved all the time , that's cool thinkin'. I also like brutal splatter movies a lot. 10. What is life like in Holland? Have you ever been to other countries? Which place would you most like to take a vacation to? Erwin: HOLLAND RULES!!!! It's a great free country, it alows people to smoke soft-drugs at home and at coffeeshops. Holland is not a poor country so everything is realy well worked out. Yeah Ive been to countries here in Europe but Id realy love to visit the U.S.A. or so, JAMAICA maybe..... 11. What is "Nasalfuck" about? How about "Cadavermunch"? Erwin: "Nasalfuck" isnt about anything, it just sounded funny. "Cadavermunch" is just a different name for what people do when they eat meat. 12. Well that's all for this time. Erwin: Ok, this is for all people who are against racisme and say; "everybody is the same" Its cool if you're against racisme, but use your eyes and you will see that everybody is DIFFERENT!..... whites differ from eachother so do people with blond hair or whatever. Use that as a reason for equality and stop watching OPRAH!......THINK FOR YOURSELF! (Right on!
