| NAPALMED "Misch Masch Miksasch" I'm always straight forward that while noise/electronic/industrial is not my main focus of extreme music I still like it! NAPALMED is one good reason for this. Everyone should have heard of them by now, they're very active with both the band and their own Napalmed distribution! So here I got my first taste! I expected the harshest of the harsh with the name, but as this music is so full of surprises, I'll do my best to account my experience. It was suttle, in a kind of eerie and actually relaxing way. It managed to work its way to flow with my mentality and, as good music/sounds tend to, it inspired a mood. I could think straight and enjoyed all 4 tracks to the end, it's the kind of thing I'd like to listen to whenever I need to broaden my menality. Happy music? Not at all but it didn't send my senses into a barbaric rage as my beloved gore grind always does! Being open to new mental states, this is a good one, it's enlightening, would I be a total retard to say that it almost has a sophisticated sound? I think it's because it's manifested from the heart and follows no guidelines, as good noise should. Which probably explains the way it manages to settle into your mind and flow with the brainwaves. Imagine a kind of sound as that opening sequense of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", you remember those weird noises? I have no idea how it's made, but the bizarre noise scapes are suttle and hypnotizing monotone. By the fourth track it's got me totally in the vibe and I'm taken further along the journey as it makes a transition to more severe and harsh sounds with no warning, but you have no choice but to go with it (or hit stop, but then you are a poop head, go listen to USHER). I'm glad to have this tape in my possession, recommended to pretty much anyone with an open mind. Might not hurt to have a puff or two before hand? But really if your head is open you won't need it. Yes, the man that regurgitated violent and severely brain-damaged tracks for ANAL BIRTH has ceased that project and now his main focus is GROTESQUE DEFORMITIES! But really you could just consider it a name change, the music is still very similar, but, I think I like it even better! If Adam has accomplished one thing for this recording it's that his material seems to be just as brutal, but somehow it gets me moving more! I don't know if it's just that I was in a gore grind high for mental state when I popped this tape in my stereo, or if Adam is bitch slapping the ultra low and horrid guitar vibe with more hate, but when the first track started blasting I was suddenly enveloped in a sea of macabre. The primitive violence and corpse desecration that fuels the sounds covers all aspects of the simple but ever effective product, there's no lack of brutality in any of it, nothing but hatred in the low guitar vibrations, nothing short of the most monstrous pitch-shifted roars/growls in the vocals, and the drum blasts are about as mean as a machine gun blast! When I say it still doesn't get more brutal than ANAL BIRTH, that's because with Adam and his manifestations of primitive sickness, IT DOESN'T GET ANY MORE BRUTAL! He doesn't just do things half way, he's never bothered concerning himself with inserts of mature elements, he keeps it pure to the chaotic spirit and does it all from his worm-infested heart. Scary isn't it? The horror! One thing I like is that G.D. has song titles where A.B. had not, and whoa, same descriptions go for the song titles! They're so sick, mean and hateful that it's disturbing! Well, you know me, I know that extreme music isn't to be taken seriously but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be intended to horrify in an abstract and almost artistic way. This 4 song demo is total DIY, with a lovely picture of a mutilated girl, I believe taken from the Death Scenes book, but the material, wow! Fuckin' A hey Relapse you want to release something really shocking? The production is nothing short of raw and sadistic but is also good enough that the pure sickness can really be appreciated! Next material will be a 3way CD-R on Menace To Sobriety!! News on Adam's works is that he's left drum programmin duties to some fellow sickos like Kyle of DYSMENORRHEIC HEMORRHAGE, Embryo of GYNOPHAGIA and, um, me! A total honor! So I'm about to make some 15 minutes of drum tracks, which Adam will lay vocal chunks and guitar assault to! I've also designed the GROTESQUE DEFORMITIES logo! This was a collaboration between he and I, and he laid down a deluxe range of Cyber Gore-tastic drum/electrobeat songs! Also some great samples! It was sent to me during a shitty period of lack-of-motivation and I'd buried myself in other projects that weren't entirely overwhelming but made difficult enough due to my slighted recources! Finally I put down guitar tracks and vocals, it's always weird collaborating because my 4track recorder records 50% faster and Embryo's records at regular speed, so all is sped up, leaving my contributions slooowed down! Which may sound weird but the effect of slowed sounds matched at the same pace; it turns out quite interesting! The final analysis: Fucking awesome! I was real happy with how this disgusting tape worked out! Imagine the violent and cool dance/gore blast perversion and samples of GYNOPHAGIA with some hideously distorted (by speed) gore vocals from moi of GROSS, with a subliminal guitar fuzz/droning, it's great! From the interview and website of this French pornogoregrind band I was expecting, very much what it is, but didn't expect it to be this awesome! The insert is your expected slew of perverse and foul pictures, even the cover is just this sexy chick in lingerie! Cool! Many tracks all titled in French language, and each is devestatingly sick! Inspired by acts like LIBIDO AIRBAG, also I get ideas of COCK AND BALL torture as I pump this atrociously incredible demo! The sound is what many would call "chugga chugga", remaining purely heavy and sludged but in a good sound quality as sick grind can get. The distorted vocals are slopped with decrepite and rotting effects, spattering a bucket of filth onto the killer and catchy drum programs, and the riffs are awesome! I think of those ultr-thick brutalized guitar vibrations I hear in NUNWHORE COMMANDO 666, superbly evil and really grooving! That techno/gabber feel is here but not dominating to call this pure cyber gore. Vulgar, sick, perverted grinding ooze that will quicken your pulse and depict a very dark hue over your mentality!
