| My adoption story isn't as interesting as Squishy's, but the transistion was still hard for me and them. My mom's realized that Squishy needed friends because he was depressed. They came to the Roseville Petco in Minnesota in December 2003. I was one of four gerbils there--two females, myself and my slate cage mate. They chose me because I was the least like Squishy as far as color and I wasn't female--babies are too hard. He's white, I'm black. My mom's wanted to make sure they wouldn't get us confused--they get confused easily. Well they brought me home and introduced me to Squishy (using the split cage method). I was scared so I put on my "tough guy act". Squishy and I didn't see eye to eye at first but eventually I started to like him. I was given the name Skeeter because they say I am "Skeeterish"-meaning I fly around like a mosquito. My mom's also adopted two more gerbils later but you can read their stories on their pages.
