A muslim believes in the fact of the Awaited saviour of the world, Imam al-Mahdi's (as) long-life. He was born nearly 1100 years ago, presently living in our world but unseen to our eyes. He will reappear whenever Allah wishes it and establish justice and peace in the world, wiping out the tyrants along with their injustice and oppression.

Even if we overlook our faith in Allah's power to grant such a long life and the historical facts of people who have lived upto 3, 500 years in historical books of Tabari, Kamil ibn Aseer, Masoodi, Kaozain-ul-Safa, etc., today's scientists and researcher's in bio-genetics have acknowledged the possibility.

A Professor at the John Hopkins University has said that it has been proved that the basic members of the human body have the potentiality for eternal life. Experiments conducted by Dr. Jack Lubb and later, Dr Warren Lewis on parts of bird foetuses have proved that they can be kept alive in buffer solutions.

Dr. Alexis Karel in January 1912 A.D. through his experiments arrived at the following conclusion.

1/ Unless complications such as lack of nutrition or attack by microbes intervened, living cells would continue living forever.

2/ These cells which continued to live, also grow and multiply.

3/ The growth and division of these cells could be controlled by the nutrition given to them.

4/ The passing of time did not affect them and did not make them age or lose strength. Thus if science could eliminate accidents and prevent internal breakdown there would be no impediment to the prolongation of life.

Now, can any sensible person insist that Imam al Mahdi's (as) long life is impossible?
