Heard You Crying

I heard you crying in the night. Your tears turned to crystal chords and cried out against the world. The pain you felt reverberated along the walls and echoed through doors and windows. It penetrated the orchestra of my thoughts and interrupted my life's melody. At first I ignored your pleas and turned a deaf ear to your notes. But my heart fell like a graceful ballerina to the floor and did not rise until I acknowledged your voice. I lay there listening to your song that ensnared me like a siren's crying against the churning roar of the sea. Courage beat in my soul and I turned to the stage you commanded. But my ears could no longer find your tune. Alas, I was too late to recognize the mourning sonata of the human soul.
