ANT-ZEN 2000

IMMINENT / SYNAPSCAPE / SAVAK / CONVERTER -- THE BLACK CAT, WASHINGTON, D.C. -- MARCH 5, 2000

Converter, starting off the audio assault.

Another picture of Converter, who played several new tracks, some of which will hopefully appear on the upcoming CD "Blast Furnace" on ant-zen later this year!

Savak [Scott Beebe & James Vietzke] grinding out some very powerful soundscapes.

Another picture of Savak.

I wonder how many pr0n files are on that laptop!

Synapscape, whose maddening mix of rhythmic textures and scorching soundscapes drove the audience into a frenzy.

Synapscape, having fun on stage.

A momentary break for Philipp.

Imminent, slicing the air with broken rhythms and a new, tweakier sound.

Another shot of Olivier, crafting razor-edged audio for the frantic DC crowd.

A special treat for the crowd -- Synapscape joined Imminent at the end of his set to perform some pieces from their new EP entitled "Screenwalking." This concert marked the official release of that title [Act 103] and the first time those songs were ever performed live.

Another shot of the I/S collaboration.

Under the red lights!

[L-R]Christian Hresko, Bryan Frey (a.k.a. Saint), and my Poppa, Stan

I.Hall / Brian Sandrovich

Anne Barkett

Shane Worth, looking mighty dapper!

Robin Ropelewski / Mike Souther / Amanda Cropper

Nic Stephanz, a.k.a. Coven of One, a local Theremin-based project. She's seen here expressing her gratitude to the quick photographer who managed to capture her on film.

Many people...dancing, shouting, running about!

A *partial* shot of the D.C. crowd -- how many were *really* there? The world may never know!

The famed foosball showdown between Synapscape and the American National Team. It was a hard-fought match, but the Americans [Inox / I.Hall] prevailed, 5-4. It's only fair to mention that Scott Sturgis (yup, that's him in the glasses) was the catalyst for this spur-of-the-moment tournament. Jenny Sturgis and Kylla Harris (holding the camera) kept a vigilant watch over the proceedings.

More foosball. Hey! Is that Jenny & S.alt placing a bet on the game?!?

Another shot of the foosball tournament. Note the sign on the foostable...oops!

Jason Mantis of Malignant Records, guarding his merchandise table from marauders.
