THE WRITTEN WORD
It is no doubt that throughout history the thoughts and ideas of so many people
and cultures were written down. The foundation of Western culture was through writing: The Jewish Torah, the Christian Bible, and so on. Martin Luther's Ninety-five theses; Karl Marx and his communist ideas; even Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf.  Obviously, that is how we know 95% of the past that we do. The "written word" is the most powerful (even today) way to let your opinions and thoughts to be known.
In the past few years I have gotten more and more interested in writing. This includes fiction stories, both short and novel length, to journalistic work. There are several reasons I have taken this up. One is that I have simply found an interest in it, as in visual arts. Two, I perceive it as an outlet to stress. In a story, I can create anything or anyone I want. And for once I can “leave” my world and enter into a world that I have created, where I am in control, verses the real world where it seems like nothing you do can change anything.

I have on several occasions attempted to get some of my work published, but it is just too expensive. I may soon look to some local organizations that could develop it into book form and distribute to local bookstores. One thing I have found out, if you attempt a full-length novel, you had better have a passion for it. And you better plan it out before you start, because something in the range of 90,000 words or more can get confusing and very disheartening.

If you are someone who is stressed out a lot (like me) or gets worked up easily (like me), then give writing a try. You don’t have to create a story or anything like that. Just write down whatever may be on your mind. Remember, no one ever has to see it. Also, don’t throw it away. If you must, put the darn thing in a safe if you are that worried about someone reading it, but never ever throw your work away, whether it be writing, painting, or whatever. You can always learn from earlier attempts at something.

Soon, hopefully, I will have links to some of my work on here.
