Reunion

two lovers once again united after a year apart
separated by the darkness of old age
the husband awaits on the path to eternal life
having been called forth to welcome his now ailing wife
she's taking her last breaths of this world's atmosphere
the darkness comes, then comes to pass
the wife, in full joy and splendor of youth, walks the path
her rundown aged body, first shaped from the earth, left behind to return to whence it came
her thoughts devoid of life's everyday worries
her sad eyes now bright with eternal life
her patient steps echo as she approaches his shadowed, yet familiar figure
she has waited long, but now waits no more
the shadows disperse as the light brightens
his smiling face greets her as the darkness fades
their hands embrace and they are one again
hand in hand, they walk towards the light
