in miniscule amounts, independence can cause heartache
those who say they care use you for all you got
till you come crawling to them and they have all the control
you may have more friends, but they're not true

in toxic doses, independence can cause loneliness
those who care really do mean the things they say
till you push them all away when you feel all your own
you lose those who love you, and you'll regret it one day

with the correct dosage, independence reaps all benefits
those who care will be there forever for you
till the end of time they'll be true and won't take advantage of you
you will never regret the beautiful friends you make

take this to heart
don't let any tread on you
don't alienate those who care
and forever more will you experience love
