Dreams of Thought -- assorted poetry
By: Jos Airaalin

May the cool embrace of winter's night
shelter us from the cruel gleam in death's eye
as he rides the shadows through the plains of time
and the winds of eternity

The darkness of being alone
overtakes my hollow soul
leaving me shrouded in shadow
hiding in the night
forever forgotten

The calm of the hunt
overtakes my silent, clouded mind
as I dance with the tiger
a cold rage burning
in my heart

It is an immortal war of time
        knowledge and power;
the seeking of peace; the being of the all
        the understanding of innocence - - a child's loving heart?
and the embrace of quiet
        fighting for that innocence, defending
                its right to be
                     never finding peace
                          a warrior's path

I fight, yet I cannot win
I win, yet I cannot defeat
I defeat, yet I cannot triumph
        and victory still eludes

The mind rebels against the consciousness
        and the body rebels against the mind
        with the mind chained by the spirit;
                creating the whole

        Such things are of myth and legend
as some powers are not granted nor unique
for we are all part of the spectrum of the universe
and we all share a power common; life - -
life - - which cool water splits to flow apart from respect;
from which air enters and exits with the smoothness
        of flowing breath
                Simple facts join to form consciousness; consciousness
                forms mind; mind is thought; thought aquires speed
                thoughts become will;
It is by will alone the mind is set in motion; to create life - -
names are given to life to entitle powers
        as yet some powers are granted and unique,
        as used to form myth and legend
