Call For Submissions!

The PINK FESTIVAL 2005 opens on June 1, 2005 featuring films and videos on LGBT concerns and reproductive health.

The Third PINK FESTIVAL will also honor gay, lesbian, transgender and bisexual (LGBT) artists by helping to mount public exhibits of their works.

Festival organizers invite Filipinos and expatriate artists working in the Philippines and among Filipino communities overseas, who have dedicated their creative energies into producing works that celebrate the positive aspects of LGBT issues, concerns and realities. Heterosexually identified men, women and organizations are also welcome to share their works.

These include garments, fabric, embroidery, jewelry and body ornaments, sculpture and castings, painting, pottery, grass and wicker-works, origami, toys, food and bread art, furniture, mobiles and stabiles, drawings, political posters, commercial art posters, photography and recorded music. Works must be able to remain reasonably intact in usual exhibition room temperatures and humidity, packing and unpacking, handling and storage.

Live performances have to be scheduled in between cinema screenings.

PINK FESTIVAL 2005 needs works that are:

- Demonstrably advocating for issues of LGBT Filipinos and their families, preferably focusing on Philippine-based realities and situations

- Very convenient, lightweight and inexpensive to set up in most festival exhibition sites in Manila, Cebu and Cagayan de Oro

- Preferably done by artists who are LGBT and are willing to have their art labelled as LGBT art. LGBT artists may opt to remain anonymous, but should be able to provide printed narratives about their art and allow the festival to distribute these narratives to the media and the public

- Originals - and whose copyright and rights to exhibition are still held by the contributor. The festival also welcomes reproductions, replicates, miniatures and photographic or video documentation especially if the originals are already destroyed or lost, bulky or fixed to their locations, cannot be transported or are in another exhibition.

Entries will be screened initially by festival organizers ProGay and Mowelfund. The final exhibition decisions will be subject to the prerogative of the management of each exhibition site.

Interested parties need to email an "Expression of Interest" with complete contact details and jpeg, gif or Adobe Acrobat format still photos of their works to pinkfilmfest@yahoo.com until May 10, 2005. EOU must include an essay why works should qualify in the exhibit and a listing of previous inclusion in past and future exhibits, publications and news reportage.
