How-To Koala Paint

Starting Koala Paint
  1. Turn off C-64
  2. Insert Koala Paint cartridge
  3. Plug tablet into port #1 (the one closest to space-bar)
  4. Turn up volume of your monitor (you'll need it)
  5. Turn on C-64, wait for "Koala Technologies" screen
  6. Press left button on pad, the pallette screen now appears
The icons which appear at this point instruct the program to perform specific functions. Most icons are selected and activated in the same way. The simplest is "Draw" so I'll use it for eg. If you don't have the KP stylus, you can use your fingernail. Don't use anything sharp or hard with the tablet including ballpoint pens. Whatever you use press lightly so you don't damage the tablet

Working in Koala Paint
  1. Press stylus against tablet, pointer appears
  2. Slowly move stylus down to bottom of tablet (towards yourself and away from the buttons). The pointer should follow the movement of the stylus
  3. When pointer reaches bottom of screen, continue to hold stylus against tablet. You should hear "beep-beep" sound
  4. Press left button on tablet while beeping
Now you should see the drawing screen. To draw, hold the stylus against the tablet and press left button while moving stylus. Now follow steps 1-4 above to return to pallette screen
  • To select a different function, use your stylus to move pointer to the desired icon, and press the button. Now follow 1-4 above to return to your drawing and try the new function
  • "Oops" will undo anything you did on the drawing screen since your last trip to pallette
  • "Erase" will erase your entire drawing. As a precaution, you must press the button twice to do erase
Koala Paint is an easy and fun way to create on the C-64, once you figure out 1-4 above :'D
