if i would not write... how could i stand
the longing of the low-sun horizon
and the flooding twilight
and the restlessness of the wind?
how could i stand the night long rain,
the fever of absence,
the seething, the dreaming?

i look up to the mountains and see
the sky raving with change,
its fragile balance breathing wildly...
i see time fall and feel the sky
going right through me...
as if, wherever i move,
the sky is new and moving with me...
as if the light
simmering between the breaths of light
we sometimes call eternity
was growing backwards and the mountain
was the spore in the space
that separates it from itself

as if,
if i wrote this silence,
my other life would glow
in the fuse of this one

panta rhei lives with her husband and her daughter in the black forest in germany, where she writes, paints, juggles fir cones and sings out loud when she goes for solitary walks
