I shrugged. "OK," Brenden agreed, "but be careful, they're pretty smart." Soon after, the siren went. Fabian and I rushed back to class, seeing some men watching on the way. At lunch, we just went off with our friends. "Where were you at recess?" Jacky asked. "Probably with her boyfriend!" Rachel whispered, loudly. I raised my eyebrows. "Yeah, right," I said. "Well how come you keep looking at each other then?" Jacky asked. I didn't have an answer for that. "Well?" Rachel asked. Then I saw Brenden in the distance, onviously calling me. 'Saved,' I though, and ran over to him. "What?" I asked, as soon as I was close enough to hear. "They took Fabian," he explained, looking a bit scared. "Who?" I asked. Brenden pointed behind me. "Of course, who else?" I said, as I saw two men leading Fabian to a van in the corner of the oval, "I guess that means he failed the job."
Rachel and Jacky ran up to me. "Here comes trouble," Brenden moaned. "What are you doing?" Jacky asked. "Oh! Cheating on your boyfriend! Shame on you!" Rachel was waving a finger at me. I rolled my eyes. Then Jacky and Rachel began to walk away, pulling me with them. "Good luck!" I called to Brenden. He ran off. The siren went about five minutes later, calling us back to class. To my surprise, I saw Fabian in the line. "What happened?" I asked. "They took me to the van and told me the rules again because they saw me talking to Brenden. They didn't know it was him though. I told them we were just talking about basketball, so they let me off. But I'm not aloud to talk to anyone else besides you and teachers," he explained. I saw him looking at some men every now and then. |
