Glasgow 2003

Its that time of year again when the lads are let out of the asylum to rampage through Glasgow. A brilliant weekend was had by all as you can probably tell by the photos below. Unlike these bands running around with fancy digital cameras which I can't afford two disposable cameras were bought on the boat for £9.99 to record the weekends events so excuse to quality of them.

Anyway despite the parade not starting to Saturday some of the band left Kilkeel at Friday 5.30am while those who were too tight to take the day off work flew out that night, needlesss to say we know who had better craic. Most of Friday was spent floating around Glasgow where Millennium Beat was played to death in the jukebox in Annie Millers. Because of all the bowling alleys being booked out some of the lads decided to check out the night life, Alec for instance headed out to the top house and trance music venues Glasgow has to offer while Texas opted more for the old skool trip hop night spots.

Onto the parade and the band paraded with a decent size band of 7 drummers and over 20 fluters. No colour party as none of their boyfriends would let them go for some reason so amazingly there were no women on our bus. Band was going extremely well through the city judging by the reaction of the crowd, in particular coming down the hill from St George's Square. This year Millar Memorial won Best Visiting Band , a well deserved and overdue win so well done lads. The atmosphere in the city was phenomenal, in particular parading out of the field where crowds were singing the Sash and Derry's Walls along with the band at the top of their voices, brilliant to parade along to, especially for some of the younger lads who were parading in Glasgow for the first time.

Our Lodge were absolutely brilliant again this year and took us back to their club for a meal and light refreshments which was first class. Hopefully we'll be back next year to lead you around Glasgow again.

That night the band attended Blackskull's Hall for refreshments and Kareoke along with some of the Wiliam King Memorial lads. The craic was mighty as you can see from the photos below although some of the singing left alot to be desired. Just like to thank Matt and the Blackskull lads for putting up with it all.
Thats it for another year. Obviously thats not all that happened but you can find out some more at uk.geocities.com/moistpivoter/ and whatever's put on the guestbook.Look out for stories of a gun fight in Girvan, a sizard attack, the snake Olympics, some of the lads walking round a dubious area of Glasgow in the middle of the night and Johnny and Dicky (amazing dummy fluter, really astounding) parading with us.
