For the final parade of the marching season the band travelled the short trek up the road to Castlederg for Castlederg Young Loyalists' annual parade. While some of the lads drove up, all the craic was had on the minibus where STUART, MARADONA, AMAZDA, CLEVER, GRIPFILL, FLUTER, 28, DOT COT, WIG, HAMMY SYYPIA, HEAD GASKET, MR. DONALDSON, SUITCASE, MRS. DONALDSON, SAHARA, FILTER AND ELEPHANT FEATURES left Kilkeel after 4pm aiming to arrive in Castlederg before 8pm. Unfortunatley we did not arrive until after 8 as the driver spent the entire journey SMSing his girlfriend while driving. We finally arrived and checked into our hotel for the night. As we were leading the parade we got formed up quickly and paraded round the village. Very small band tonight of 4 and 14 including a few learners but we didn't do too badly playing a bit of B & T for a change aswell as melody. Hopefull next year well have a better band where some of the lads will come out from under their girlfriend and wives thumbs. Alot of craic was had after the parade watching the bands outside the Derg Arms. Omagh PB and Cookstown SOW going particularly well. A bit of bad behaviour ensued while watching the parade where some of the lads bought this purple coloured wine which didn't seem to stay down for long. Also saw a couple of idiots dancing round a tree while 28 was a assisting some girl in a cat fight.
Young Guns provided the entertainment in the Castle Inn which provoked numourous shows of strength on the dancefloor as well as someone destroying their good polo shirt by break dancing. A few of the lads were picked up in Coco's party wagon and taken to a secret party and weren't to be seen until breakfast. Someone also slept in a cot. The morning came and it was time to survey the damage. Few of the lads missing until the fries were put on where they miraculously appeared. 28 had cut himself while 10 pin bowling in the toilets while Sahara had developed a hump on his back so big some of us thought we were in Eygpt.
As Walter and the Derg lads said goodbye we were on our way...until the bus failed to start. Numourous push starts were atempted but failed. All hope seemed to be lost and we were stranded. As wig burst into tears at the thought of another night of partying suddenly out of nowhere Coco's party van appeared and performed the 'mini bus roll on the main road manouver' and we were on our way. Got home safely via stop in El Paso where Elephant features showed his trunk to everyone. Great night craic and a fitting way to see off the marching season and hopefully the Derg Sleepover will become an annual outing.
